Established in 2014, Verner Architects is boutique architecture firm specializing in custom residential and small scale commercial projects. Based in Oakland, our projects span the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. We focus on both new construction and renovations.
Our work articulates the perfect balance between innovative design and practical realization. Each project considers context, the effects of light, materials and the resulting structural form. We are by nature collaborators, and enjoy working with our clients, and their team of designers and consultants. Our goal is to consistently exceed client expectations. Hallmarks of our work:
Natural light has a huge impact on our work. How does lighting affect interior and exterior materials? Where do shadows fall and form during the course of the day? Is the interior lighting adequate? Does it diffuse and create the optimal warming effect? When daylight is scarce, or after dark, how can we create a lighting plan that carries on the right mood, look and feel of the space.
Selecting the right materials for each project is essential. Whether natural or manmade, we must carefully consider the needs of each client. How will they use the space? What kind of lifestyle do they lead? What is their personal aesthetic? These elements dictate the materials and design aspirations for each project. We enjoy collaborating with gifted local artisans and craftsman who help us bring these materials to life in unique ways.
